County Limerick was heavily hit by rainfall last night but narrowly escaped the worst of the weather which hit County Cork to the South.
Despite it being high summer and the countryside in full growth, the weather remains cold and wet throughout June. Summer can't seem to establish itself this year ... again!
"Bands of heavy rain moved northwards across the country overnight. The rain was thundery in southern coastal counties with Cork in particular, very badly affected leading to extensive flooding." Within Western County Limerick the morning started off cold with light rain threatening the day, but this eased off gradually. Eventually sunshine emerged and the land became warm and humid, with the river swollen and bloated brown it took on the appearance of respite within a South Asian Monsoon.
